Speaker: Andrew Mitchell, Founder and Executive Director, Global Canopy Programme
Today, forest destruction is largely driven by consumer demand and agribusiness fuelled by a $92.2 billion global tsunami of international finance. How can science help identify where policy makers could work with private sector interests to turn the tide around? Andrew will shed light on this question through his current work with GCP on forests, farmers and finance which is seeking leveraging points in global forest risk supply chains and innovative mechanisms within the financial sector that could help halt deforestation.
Andrew Mitchell is the Founder and Director of the Global Canopy Programme, emeritus Fellow in Environmental Understanding, Green Templeton College, and founding Chairman of the Forest Footprint Disclosure Project.
